Principal's Message

Hello and welcome to Montague Public School.  My name is Christopher Hannah and I am truly fortunate to be the principal at Montague.  Along with 28 other educator team members, we are excited to share the story of us.

The Township of Montague is a close-nit community and identifies the school as an important part of the community for students and families.  Our School Council Chair for the current school year are Chair Cathrina Pynenburg ([email protected]) and our UCDSB Trustee is Carole Dufort.

The school officially opened in 2005 and we currently serve approximately 275 students from kindergarten through to grade 8. Our school is fully accessible and has 12 homerooms, a large gym, a learning commons and two mobile computer labs.  A good majority of our students are bussed to school as we serve the rural area north and east of the town of Smiths Falls.

Montague School offers a full complement of educational programs, real-world and Indigenous learning experiences aligning with the Ministry of Education curriculum including regular French programming. Our Kindergarten program is full day, every day and each of our two classrooms are staffed with both a teacher and a Registered Early Childhood Educator.

We also offer numerous athletic extracurricular teams and clubs within the school to extend student experiences. Our junior (grade 4-6) and intermediate (grade 7-8) students compete in separate divisions along with Smiths Falls and Carleton Place area schools.  Our school has wi-fi available throughout for student and staff use and we are well equipped with a variety of technologies to support teaching and learning.

At Montague we focus on creating an environment that is inclusive, welcoming and supportive of all individuals. Equity and wellness are incorporated into all aspects of the school environment.  We as a school strive to ensure that Montague is a place where families can feel safe and cared for while students strive to reach their full academic potential. Our students are encouraged to interact and support each other across grade levels with many junior and intermediate students adopting and taking on leadership roles within kindergarten and primary classroom as well as extending into various school events.

On behalf of the Mustang team, I wish to thank you for allowing us to share our story and look forward to you dropping by for a visit sometime.  If you would like more information or simply a tour of our school, feel welcome to contact us and we will be happy to make arrangements.
